How can you emulate what they're doing right, improve upon it, and avoid what they're doing wrong? How can you interest their customers in switching loyalties to your business? How can you interest a target market they're not reaching yet in your business instead of theirs? In short, knowing who you're competing against will help you greatly in figuring out how you will stay competitive.
5. How do you plan to fund your business? Where’s the start-up money going to come from (and don't say from sales or clients because, presumably, you don't have any of those yet). Sad but true, some amount of start up capital is needed to get a home-based business going, and it's better to know ahead of time how you're going to acquire that capital. Will it come from savings, from credit cards, from a business loan, from a gift or a donation from a family member? Figure this out now and save yourself a heap of panic later.
