By participating in such a supportive and encouraging community, home-based workers can ironing out confusions, learn new skills, get questions answered, pass along their experience, and advance their abilities to produce greater income with less effort.
The benefit of online communities over one-on-one coaching is that they are usually free to join (or at least considerably cheaper) and you benefit from the experience of multiple peers - all who are trying to do the same things you are, all at various stages in their work-at-home job's development.
Mom's especially enjoy the community sharing atmosphere in that most of the other participants are moms like them, with kids often around, meals to prepare, and generally trying to function as best they can in a less than ideal working environment. Many of the work-at-home websites, in fact, are devoted specifically to work at home moms, and provide discussion groups as well as business and job opportunities catered to work at home moms by employers who understand exactly what being a mom working at home entails.
You can't always be connecting to your online community support network, though. Most times, in fact, you need to be working - either as a mother or an employee/businesswoman or both. That is why it is your responsibility, if you wish to be a success working at home without losing your mind (or worse), to take time out to rebalance, regroup, and recuperate your energies. You must rest and rejuvenate.
You can only juggle being a mom, an employee or businesswoman, and maybe even a wife without also allowing time for yourself for so long. Eventually the exhaustion and overwhelmed will burn you right out. You will get to a point where you’re running in circles and getting absolutely nothing done. If this sounds like you already then it’s already time to take a break!
Don't overextend yourself. That is the quickest road to failure in working at home. Take on as much responsibility as you want, provided you can schedule in time each and every day to devote to your own relaxation and recuperation.
Perfectionism is a deadly enemy to a work at home, and a common one - as too often work at home moms feel they have something to prove to themselves, to their family, friends, and acquaintances, and to the outside world in general. But they don't; you don't. You have nothing to prove. Being a mom is proof enough.
When you choose to take an at-home job or start a home-based business, understand that you will have successes and failures, that you will be juggling your time between family responsibilities and work. Do not place unrealistic expectations on your abilities. Do what you can when you can. Work at whatever pace is reasonable and realistic considering your circumstances. And know that every moment you do spend in your work at home job or business is useful and productive.
Find a work at home job that won't be unreasonably demanding of your time. Don’t set yourself up to fail. Pick something realistic and excel at it. That is the way to succeed as a work at home mom.
