The Lost Art Of Asking For Referrals

April 30, 2009 by funbiz

Asking for referrals is something all network marketers should do. However, it is also something that most of them don’t do. Why not? And more importantly… should network marketers still be asking for referrals?

The answer to that question is a resounding yes! You should always, always ask for a referral anytime you’re talking to someone about your home based business. The reason for this is that leads from someone who recommend others are like money in the bank. You can create your own list but that takes time and effort or you can buy them but that takes money.

Referrals simply help your list of leads multiply. Then of course not everyone is going to give you a referral. You might not get a single one from some people, but then again you might get 10 or 15 from someone else!

If you are not asking for referrals you are simply missing out on thousands of people out there and out of those numbers chances are a few of them will be interested in your business.

So then how do you ask for referrals? It’s really pretty easy. Let’s say you are talking to Mary and Mary says “thanks but I’m not looking for a home based business right now.”

All you have to say to Sally is… “That’s fine, do you happen to know anyone who might be interested in working from home?”

Now at this point Mary will either say yes or no if she says no just say goodbye. If she says yet get a pen and paper and write down their names and numbers right there and then, say thanks and goodbye to Mary.

Now when you call Mary’s friends you have an opener all ready.

“Hey Paula this is *say your name* I was just talking to Mary and she said you might be interested in making money from home… is that true?”

It really is that simple! Now suppose you didn’t ask for that referral. Mary would have said no and that would have been the end of it but now you’re talking to Paula! You probably may never have found Paula if not for Mary.

Start asking for referrals and start expanding your leads and get additional sales. The art of asking for a referral may be old but it definitely still works in today’s network marketing business!

What is the best or the right business to get into if I want to start a business today?

If it can uses your accomplishments, or experiences, your talents and abilities, all the better. If it doesn’t, no big deal, you can acquire the necessary abilities, skills, or talents as you continue.

Here are three compelling tips for you to get into the right business:

1. Look at what you DON’T like to do.

Here is one the simplest and quickest ways to narrow down your search for the right business to you to get into is to figure out what the WRONG business to get into.

Like somw people, If the very thought of selling something to someone face to face makes you unease, then I’d suggest you don’t consider any business involves sales or at least direct sales.

If you get into a business that you do not like, you will be miserable in the operation and ultimately you will fail. Then, why set yourself up for misery and failure before you even get started?

2. Choose what you LIKE to do.

It could be something you are doing now or might be a hobby or a special interest of yours. Just remember this… you can get rich in any business. There are folks doing it right this very moment, who are getting rich in every conceivable business.

And so can you!

3. Look at your strengths and weaknesses.

The ideal business for you would be one that you like doing and one that makes use of your abilities, skills, or talents.

However, your abilities, skills, or talents shouldn’t be your first consideration when choosing a business for you to get into.

Why?

Because there may be a lot of things you are good at that you don’t really like doing all that much, or there isn’t any ability, skill, or talent that you can’t develop right now if you want to.

Possibly the most all important part of start your own business lies in finding the place where you will be happy in your work. When you are “happy in your work” your work is no longer work and it gets to be fun. Your fun combined with creative thinking and positive action that can make you wealthy!

Building Income Little Bit At A Time!

Ask most people who runs a home based business and they will tell you that they are on their way to making a huge income working from home. However, if your goal is to make $100,000 a year or more you are going to have to start off with much smaller amount if you ever really want to reach your goal.

Making a huge 6 figures a year working from home is a lot like losing weight. You just have to do it one small bit at a time. If you are planning on losing 50 pounds, then you run the risk of getting completely overwhelmed and giving up halfway. However, if you focus on losing 1 or 2 pounds a week your goal will seem much more achievable and it will keep you focused and motivated until you reach your ultimate goal.

Therefore, rather than thinking about making $100,000 a year why not focus on making $500 a month. Once you’ve met that goal, then increase that amount to $1000 a month and so forth until you reach your $100,000 goal.

It is very important to remember that not all goals have to be monetary. An very beneficial goal could be to call 30 prospects every day from Monday to Friday about your business. Or write 5 articles a day. You could also make your goal to sign up 5 new people this month, that is very possible!

Once you focus on smaller numbers that you can execute faster you will get that feeling of meeting a goal and feeling more accomplished and that will be the energy you’ll need to be successful in the long term.

So don’t view your goal as one colossus mountain to be climbed. Just take a few steps every day in the right direction. It might seem like you are never going to get there but if you are consistent and focused on the smaller goals you will reach your destinations in no time at all!

Steps To Succeed In Affiliate Network Marketing

Affiliate network marketing business is one of the easiest home business you can start. In many cases you can start to make money almost right away.

1. Find a company (or product) you are passionate with

Usually finding a company you are passionate about is all about finding a product you can believe in. If you can find a product that you’ll be excited to market to your friends and family you’ll be much more likely to succeed in that business.

Finding the right company also means finding the right support to help you get into the business. This should be a company you feel comfortable with and someone who is committed to helping you find real success… not just sign you up and then leave you high and dry. Here are a few companies I have success with… MaxBounty, OffersQuest and ShareAsale.

2. Set out your goals

You’ll never get to where you want to go if you don’t know where that place is and how to get there. Take some real time and write out exactly what you want from your home based business. Be as specific as possible and keep the list with you at all times.

3. Talk to people about your new company

Sound simple? Well you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who start a home based business and then refuse to talk to anyone about it. Seriously… it happens. Let everybody know what your are doing, go out and promote your new business.

4. Create a schedule

Write down a schedule of exactly when you are going to work and for how long. Be sure you stick with this schedule as much as humanly possible. With a schedule you know exactly how much you are working and you can adjust your time if needed to get the job done.

5. Work even when you don’t feel like working

Quitters give up when they are wore out or things aren’t going well. Winners on the other hand keep on working even when they don’t want to. This is the difference between an average entrepreneur and one that makes 6 figures. If you work through everything good or bad you’ll create a habit for success.

If you follow these 5 easy steps exactly as I’ve written them out there isn’t any way possible that you’ll fail in network marketing.
