I am working on starting an online business of selling handmade items. I just bought the book “The E Myth” and have purchased the website’s name.
Have you done it? Can you give me any tips?

Whatever you do.. Please do not go and spend money on getting people to do websites for you.
YOur best investment in the process of setting up your busiiness .. is to learn how to use wordpress yourself.
It is good because 1) you do not depend on another person to maintain the site for you.
2) you do not have to pay anyone to make changes for you when you want to change the way it looks
3) wordpress is widely supported and has alot of ecommerce ready templates to use (most of the time they are free too!!)
4) it is cost effective. I never have to pay for wordpress stuff.. the only thing I ever paid for my online business is .. the domainname which is actually free when I sign up with my current webhost.
Tips on learning to use wordpress, If you do not like to learn it online by trail and error, then go and buy something like “wordpress for dummies book”
Wordpress has alot of plug and play plugins which you can use to make your website e-commerce ready. (FREE!!).
you have bought the webesite domain name, you just need a good webhoast to house your website now . a good one is lunarpages.com because they are adult friendly .. even if you do not sell adult related products it is always good to know that you have the flexibility. Now they are on the “unlimited” roll.. which means.. unlimited bandwidth , unlimited diskspace. and unliimted add on domains.. allfor 4.95 per mth)
At the end of all these.. you wil become skilled in wordpress ( a new skill to acquire.. on your own) and also manage to set up your business.
I did my business this way. I started with zero wordpress knowledge and two months later.. I am pretty good now without even have to go into coding..

1you better have a damn good idea that makes money OR use it to trade things that make money.
2no i havent read/done it.
3yes i use the net to make money
4tips, determination to make it work. but dont get hooked up on one idea. give this a try. if it doesnt work but you like the idea of the net then try something else.
5i havent read the book, and im sure it has some good advise, but id also bet it makes it sound easy right? WRONG.

If you need help get someone to design and host the website with shopping cart and credit card processing. Then plan on getting traffic via advertisement. Reaching customers is the most ciritcal stuff. Good luck!
