The name of your business is one of the most important aspects because it is how your customers will identify you. It is very crucial that you make sure that someone else does not already have that name, or that no one else will start using your name.
In order to be certain you will want to register a trademark. Your trademark will be a logo or a word that will differentiate your business from some other. You will be able to get a trademark on your business and also on any products that you sell.
It will cost you a few hundred dollars to register a trademark. You can get a trademark at the patent office. As it is expensive to get a trademark, you may not want to get trademarks for too many products. The only reason you should actually bother to trademarked or product names is if you think it could be threatened by a competitor.
Once you have registered for a trademark, it becomes yours and you can do whatever you want with it from then on. One thing to keep in mind is that your trademark will only apply in the country where you register it. You also want to find out how many years your trademark is in effect. This way you will know when you need to make a payment to keep it.
A copyright is similar to a trademark as it gives you protection. In just about every country, you own the copyright as soon as you write, record or draw something. Copyright covers anything that is not physical. Typically a copyright will last until you die, and maybe even for years afterwards. When this time runs out it becomes public domain and anyone can use it.
Make certain to look into all the laws for copyrights and trademarks in your country before starting your home business. This way you will be sure to get everything started out the right way and not have to worry about it some time in the future.

It doesn't matter how many times you fail. It doesn't matter how many times you almost get it right. No one is going to know or care about your failures, and neither should you. All you have to do is learn from them and those around you because... All that matters in business is that you get it right once. Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are. - Mark Cuban~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
