Opportunities Can Be Positive Or Negative
Every day, life presents us with opportunities, usually small opportunities but sometimes big ones as well. These opportunities can often be either positive or negative. Someone invites us to try to do drug. That is a negative opportunity. A new employee joins the firm and we have an opportunity to make a new friend. That is a positive opportunity. A negative opportunity diminishes one’s ability to be a better person. A positive opportunity contributes personal enrichment in a person’s life. Numerous positive opportunities are bestowed to us regular but we hardly ever so accept them. Failure to react could be due to our inner makeup; that is our mental attitude, notions, values, percepts and behavior. It would also owed to outside considerations beyond our control. For instance if someone wins a scholarship to study abroad but is unable to come up with sufficient cash for living expenses, he is then unable to seize the opportunity.
Some times, we lose opportunities because we are uninterested to the opportunities around us. We think we haven’t the time to get involve with anything or anybody beyond our small circuit of acquaintances and interests. It could also be that we don’t know of the opportunities available to us. Oftentimes, we are so committed in living our lives our narrow-minded interests that other matters, or individuals, along the fringes of our lives don’t interest us in the least. Here again are wasted opportunities. Individuals in reality live more robust lives when they involve in a diversity of pursuits.
There are times we do not recognize opportunities. We are afraid to try something we have not tried before. For example, if we have an opportunity to interview a local sports personality, we are normally shaky and afraid. This is an opportunity to grow in a new area. We are unwilling to take up the challenge. We are afraid to go beyond our comfort zone. Who knows what new opportunities a new friend or a new club or just a new book will bring?
Most oftentimes, it is our intellectual make up that block and obstructs a strong reception to a positive opportunity. Another way could be how we each comprehend issues. For example, you have a chance to join the mathematics club in school but are weak in maths, should you join the club? In reality this is a good opportunity to get better yourself in math. But instead of joining you avoid doing so because you will be embarrassed by your weakness in the subject, it is a wasted opportunity.
We should grab all opportunities to improving ourselves and enrich our lives, we should train ourselves to always react to positive opportunities that life brings us each day. We should be alert, aware and willing to take heed and reply to opportunities that come our way. If we respond to opportunities, our whole lives could be changed for the better. Raw opportunities are challenges and life without challenges would be boring and very uninteresting so so. We should never be in a position to look back and regret all the wasted opportunities in our lives.
